Red teaming
Red teaming is deliberately trying to make a system fail or misbehave, using an adversarial mindset, to find weaknesses before real-world misuse does.
What matters
Thinking like someone trying to break the system, rather than only testing intended use cases, surfaces failure modes that standard testing is likely to miss entirely.
Example
A red team might deliberately try creative, unusual prompts designed to get a chatbot to produce content its guidelines prohibit.
Common misconception
Red teaming is not the same as standard quality assurance testing; it specifically adopts an adversarial mindset, actively searching for ways to break or misuse the system.
Recall question
Why does red teaming find failure modes that standard testing typically misses?
