CSS Grid
CSS Grid is a layout mode that arranges elements across both rows and columns at once, defined as an explicit grid structure.
Prerequisite: Flexbox
What matters
Because it handles two dimensions simultaneously, Grid is well suited to whole-page layouts, while flexbox remains simpler for single-row or single-column arrangements.
Example
A page layout with a header, sidebar, main content, and footer can be defined as named areas of a single CSS Grid, rather than nested flexbox containers.
Common misconception
CSS Grid does not replace flexbox entirely; the two are often used together, each for the layout problem it fits best.
Recall question
Why is CSS Grid often preferred over flexbox for a whole-page layout?
