Responsive design
Responsive design is building a page's layout to adapt to different screen sizes, using techniques like flexible layouts and conditional styles based on viewport width.
Prerequisite: CSS Grid
What matters
Without it, a page designed for one screen size can become unusable or broken on a much smaller or larger screen, which matters given how varied real device sizes are.
Example
A responsive layout might switch from a three-column grid on a wide desktop screen to a single stacked column on a narrow phone screen.
Common misconception
Responsive design is not just about shrinking everything proportionally; it often means changing the layout structure itself at different screen widths.
Recall question
What might a responsive layout change beyond just resizing elements smaller?
