Model output
A model output is the result a model produces after processing its input, such as generated text, a predicted label, or a probability score.
Prerequisite: Model input
What matters
The output's format is fixed by how the model was designed and trained; a classifier always outputs a label or score, while a generative model outputs new content.
Example
A sentiment classifier's output might be the single label 'positive', while a chatbot's output for the same input length is a full generated sentence.
Common misconception
An output is not automatically correct just because the model is confident; confidence and correctness can diverge.
Recall question
Why can a model's output be confident yet still wrong?
