Semantic HTML
Semantic HTML uses elements whose tag names describe their actual meaning, like `<nav>` or `<article>`, rather than generic containers for everything.
Prerequisite: HTML element
What matters
Meaningful tags help screen readers, search engines, and other developers understand a page's structure, which a purely generic markup structure cannot convey.
Example
Using `<nav>` for a navigation menu instead of a generic `<div>` lets assistive technology announce it correctly as navigation.
Common misconception
Semantic HTML is not just about accessibility for screen readers alone; it also helps search engines and other tools correctly interpret page structure.
Recall question
Why does using a `<nav>` tag help more than a generic `<div>` for the same content?
