Training example

A training example is one single record of data, made of its features and (for supervised learning) its label, used to teach a model.

What matters

A model only ever learns from the training examples it is shown, so gaps or errors in those examples directly limit or bias what the model can learn.

Example

In a house-price dataset, one training example is a single house's square footage, location and bedroom count, paired with its actual sale price.

Common misconception

A training example is not the same as a feature; a training example is one full record, while a feature is one measured attribute within it.

Recall question

What two parts make up one supervised training example?
